The Lies: At the time it occurred, it was a huge deal. An actor being charged with attempted murder. An actor who had long been in the public eye. He had a lawyer who was well known, but not as well known as he would be a few years later. During the first trial, the actor said he couldn’t remember anything from the night. It was not a great acting performance and a couple of the jurors were enticed to make sure things went the right way for the actor. It worked. Not to be deterred, prosecutors tried a different tack. This time the actor was told in no uncertain terms he wouldn’t be testifying. Despite the prosecution once again having multiple people testify that the actor was the shooter, many witnesses for the defense were brought in who said they had a party and saw the actor leave long before any shooting. They were all paid. It worked though and the actor walked away a free man.
