OneUnitedBank Says WHAT Harriet Tubman Controversy? Business is Waaaay Up!

*Even though OneUnitedBank has come under fire for daring to portray Harriet Tubman using the Wakanda salute on its credit/debit card design, the bank says the hotness is coming from customers who are clamoring for it!

OneUnited Bank, which is credited s the largest black-owned bank in the US, is seeing a whole lot more business since they debuted the Harriet Tubman card. The bank is said to be seeing 10x their normal volume in terms of bank account sign-ups, account holders requesting to switch to the new debit card design and banking inquiries, reports TMZ.

Even though it’s been less than a week since the card became available, OneUnited knows they’ve got a huge winner. That’s because they saw similar numbers back in 2016 after partnering with Killer Mike’s #BankBlack movement.

As TMZ noted, the goal back then as to move money to black-owned banks. OneUnited claims more than $50 million in deposits were moved to black-owned banks across the country. This time around, OneUnited is going to benefit exclusively as it surely seems it’s got a hit on its hands based on the early numbers.
