Trevor Noah Breaks Down the Legacy of Stop & Frisk Under Mike Bloomberg for his White Audience Members | Daily Show

Trevor Noah explains the horrors of having to live as a black person in New York under Stop & Frisk

*Between the scenes of “The Daily Show’ Thursday night, Trevor Noah took several minutes to put white people in the shoes of black folk who lived in New York during the height of Stop & Frisk under then mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The comedian plainly and methodically explains what it must be like for a black kid to grow up under the intrusive, disruptive policy. Noah also expresses a feeling of vindication upon hearing leaked audio of Bloomberg saying that he had no problem racially profiling minorities, and throwing them “up against the wall” to frisk without cause – because black people for decades have been saying  that this is a common occurrence.

Now there’s audio of Bloomberg saying in plain words that the Stop & Frisk policy was all deliberate, absolute and entrenched.

Elsewhere in Thursday’s show,  Roy Wood Jr. hosted his bit “CP Time,” and detailed the history of Chitlin’ Circuit theaters and clubs. He explained how they helped black performers get their start in showbiz. He said it was like “BET, but without all the ‘Martin’ reruns.”

Fun Fact: The Chitlin’ Circuit was initially launched by a black man looking to launder his illegal lottery money.
