Rae Sremmurd’s Half-brother Charged with Father’s Murder Suffers from Mental Illness

Rae Sremmurd

*Rae Sremmurd’s mother is speaking out about the death of her ex-husband, who was fatally shot this week by her son.

Bernadette Walker tells TMZ that her 19-year-old son, Michael Sullivan, suffers from a mental illness requiring medication … which she claims he stopped taking this past November.

Sullivan deals with “Schizoaffective disorder … which lends to schizophrenia, as well as symptoms including hallucinations, delusions and mood disorders, such as mania and depression,” the outlet writes.

She says he was living with her in Atlanta until late last year when he went to live with his dad, Floyd, in Mississippi. Walker suspects Michael might’ve been off his meds again when an argument ensued … and he shot his father.

Sullivan is the half-brother of the duo who make up the hip-hip group Rae Sremmurd. Floyd raised the rappers since they were in middle school, after he married their mother and moved to Mississippi to live with her.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Sullivan had been held for a psychiatric evaluation after the killing and was later released and charged in connection with Floyd’s death.

The incident occurred in Tupelo, Mississippi Monday night. Police were dispatched to a home where they found the 62-year-old victim dead from several gunshot wounds.

Bernadette — who’s been divorced from Floyd since 2008 — says Michael’s medication is necessary to keep him calm but since he turned 18, she can not force him to stay medicated.

She posted the following message on her Instagram page:

Thank you to everyone reaching out with positive thoughts and prayers… Obviously this is a very difficult time for our family. We appreciate you.. we may not contact everyone individually but we see your messages and we love and thank you all! We’ll keep you updated.. and thank you for your respect for our privacy at this time

In a tweet, Swae Lee posted four broken heart emojis. “I pray this world let me keep some compassion,” he wrote in a second tweet.
