Juice WRLD’s Family Makes Statement and Sheds Light on His Prescription Drug Abuse

*If you’re wondering how Juice WRLD‘s family is dealing with the sudden demise of the 21-year-old singer/rapper, they have broken their silence.

The family is shedding light on his battle with prescription drug abuse and his fight to help others beat their addictions, reports TMZ.

“We loved Jarad with all of our hearts and cannot believe our time with him has been cut short. As he often addressed in his music and to his fans, Jarad battled with prescription drug dependency,” said the late entertainer’s mother, Carmella Wallace.

Jarad Wallace, of course, was Juice WRLD’s born name and he rapped about drugs often.  But, in spite of being caught with 70 pounds of marijuana,  the family insists he wasn’t to promote drug use. No, his music was intended to help those battling addiction who may have felt alone in their fight.

We have a feeling that some folks aren’t going to buy that. In any event, his mother had more to say.

“Addiction knows no boundaries and its impact goes way beyond the person fighting it. Jarad was a son, brother, grandson, friend and so much more to so many people who wanted more than anything to see him defeat addiction.”

Having said that, his family believes his tragic story can be a lesson to others.

“We hope the conversations he started in his music and his legacy will help others win their battles as that is what he wanted more than anything.”

Carmella wraps by thanking Juice’s fans, friends and family for their support during the incredibly difficult time, saying, “We know that Jarad’s legacy of love, joy and emotional honesty will live on.”

As we reported, last Sunday (12-08-19), Juice WRLD died after a private flight from L.A. to Chicago. Law enforcement sources say he swallowed several Percocet pills upon landing when he learned federal agents were going to search the plane.

Authorities found 70 lbs. of marijuana, some codeine and 3 handguns on the plane.
