Democrats Are Leaving Kamala Harris to Stand Alone Against Attacks

human rights dinner (03-30-19) - kamala harris

*According to a Daily Kos report, Democrats are leaving presidential hopeful Kamala Harris to stand alone.

Here’s what the outlet has to say about the hot topic:

When Tulsi Gabbard lied about Kamala Harris’s record in the July debate, Kamala Harris was left to stand alone. The claims were debunked by independent fact-checkers, yet not one person in the Democratic field rushed to defend Harris’s integrity.

In contrast, many of them rushed to defend Tulsi Gabbard when Hillary Clinton suggested that somebody in the primary was being groomed for a third party run, the report states. Many Dems also defended Joe Biden when Julián Castro took aim at him during the September debate.

According to Daily Kos…

When Kamala Harris called for Donald Trump’s Twitter to be suspended because of the threats that it causes to people’s safety, particularly black people and people of color …. Not one of her Democratic colleagues in the primary backed her up.

On Friday, when Kamala Harris said she would boycott the Criminal Justice -forum at Benedict College in protest of a sponsoring organization who gave Trump an award and prohibited Benedict students from attending the event, she stood alone.

“This is somebody who has disrespected the voices that have been present for decades about the need for reform of this system — the people who have marched for justice in this system, the people who have sacrificed to create leadership around justice in this system,” Harris said.

She pulled out of the forum Friday in Columbia upon learning of the Trump award and that only a limited number of students from the school were allowed to attend the president’s remarks.

“As a proud HBCU graduate and especially knowing these times and the challenges of these times, I believed that it was so critically important that the students be present, that their voices be heard,” Harris said Saturday.

When Trump attacked Harris on Twitter Saturday morning over her protest, or when his New Hampshire campaign chair Al Baldasaro brought back some good old birtherism later that day, the silence of her colleagues was, again, deafening.

Harris often tells young people at her events: “You never have to ask anyone permission to lead, you just lead.”

Many would agree that she’s certainly living by her own advice during this race for the White House.
