Cupcakke Fans Concerned About Rapper After She ‘Quits Music’ in Tearful Video [WATCH]

*Many of you have probably never heard of up-and-coming rapper Cupcakke, but she wants y’all to know she’s bowing out of the music game.

According to Out.com, Cupcakke has a huge following among young queer and trans people, and many were left heartbroken when she took to Instagram Sunday night to tearfully announce plans to remove all her music from streaming platforms.

In a video posted on IG, Cupcakke (real name is Elizabeth Harris) appears wrapped in a blanket and sitting on a hotel bed while tearfully explaining why she’s done chasing her dreams of being a music star.

“I am done with music,” she says in the 18-minute clip (see above). “I am done with the tour, even though this is the beginning. I’m sorry to let every fan down.”

The rapper behind “Deep Throat” also notes her reason for quitting is because she’s a bad influence on her young fans.

“I have people of all ages — 10, 11 years old — coming to my shows,” she says, “and I feel as though I’m corrupting them with my songs.”

“When I made those songs I was 16, 17 and honestly, I couldn’t really give two sh*ts, you know?” she adds. “But I saw a video and it was of a 13-year-old dancing to the music and I just decided that’s it. I don’t wanna do music no more.”

But many Cupcakke fans aren’t buying it — as they believe she seems forced into making such a statement, and there’s talk on Twitter that she was perhaps caught up with some shady financiers and an abusive boyfriend (see Twitter post below). Some fans are calling on those who know Cupcakke personally to check in with her and make sure she’s okay.

Via Out.com:

Cupcakke is known for her sex-positive and LGBTQ+ affirming anthems. Her debut album, Audacious, featured the track “LGBT,” a song she says she wrote “strictly for the gay community to know that they are loved and don’t need to feel judged.”

In 2018, Cupcakke released a video for her single “Crayons,” which featured the hook “boy on boy, girl on girl, like who the fu*k you like, fuck the world!”

Prior to her sudden break from the music industry, Cupcakke called Shawn Mendes gay, mocked K-Pop star Chungha’s name, and claimed Camila Cabello is “racist.” (Cupcakke, however, is not the first to make that claim).

Cupcakke deleted her Instagram and Twitter shortly after posting the video.
