Tiffany Haddish: Comedian to Host ‘Kids Say the Darndest Things’ Reboot

*Tiffany Haddish has announced that she’s serving up some nostalgia with ABC.

The comedian/actress is set to host and executive produce a new version of the unscripted show “Kids Say the Darndest Things,” based on the popular comedy series hosted by Bill Cosby that aired as a special on CBS in 1995, then as a full series from January 9, 1998 to June 23, 2000.

The premise of the show finds the host asking a question to a child who usually responds in a way that makes you laugh out loud or melt your heart. The concept dates back to 1945 when it was a regular part of a radio show hosted by Art Linkletter.

“When I was dreaming of stars I wanted to bring to ABC, Tiffany Haddish was top of my list,” said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke, THR reports.  “Tiffany starring in and producing this iconic series is everything I hoped for.”

Added Haddish, “I’m excited to hear what kids have to say these days because I can’t understand what they are saying on social media. “They’re using too many abbreviations!”

The new show will follow the same format as the original, with Haddish interacting with kids in segments that include a live audience and taped pieces. The show will air in between ABC’s hit unscripted series “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and “Shark Tank.”

In related news, the comedian is set to star in Netflix’s animated series “Tuca & Bertie” and she’s also executive producing a slate of stand-up specials for the streaming giant.

Most recently she announced plans to host a free make-up show in Miami for folks who were not pleased with her disastrous New Year’s Eve act.

“I’m doing a free make up show in Miami on JUNE 20th for people who were not happy with my New Year’s Eve show,” she posted on Twitter. “You will be receiving an email shortly from AEG, so make sure to claim your tickets by next Monday night because these tickets are first come, first serve.”
