*Samuel L. Jackson is set to reprise his role as John Shaft II and the first poster for the new film has arrived.
This fifth installment in the franchise sees three different generations of Shaft reuniting in one movie.
Jackson makes his return alongside original Shaft star Richard Roundtree and franchise newcomer Jessie T. Usher, who plays the estranged son of Jackson’s character. “Girls Trip” star Regina Hall is also featured as his baby-mama or “Junior’s mama” who is “little bitter,” according Shaft (Jackson) in the hilarious trailer (below).

This latest movie sees Samuel L. Jackson reuniting with his estranged son, who now works as a cybersecurity agent for the FBI and needs his help, leading to a clashing of ideologies. By the time this movie hits theaters, it will have been nearly 20 years since Jackson last played Shaft in the movie directed by John Singleton. That effort was a modest success, grossing $104 million worldwide.
The studio has also released several character posters of Jackson that are captioned with catchy phrases, such as, “What time is it? Time to shut yo mouth” and “I’ll avocado toast your punk a**.”
“Shaft” is set to hit theaters on June 14.
