*Twitter is reacting to news that former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, is dating the widow of his late brother, Beau.

According to the family, Hallie Biden and Hunter Biden formed a romantic bond following the passing of Delaware’s former attorney general, who died of brain cancer in May 2015.

Beau was the second of Joe’s children to precede their father in death; the former VP’s 1-year-old daughter Naomi was killed in a Christmastime car accident in 1972. The crash also took the life of Joe’s first wife, Neilia, who was Beau’s mother, per cnn.com.

In a statement to Page Six, Hunter, who is separated from his wife, Kathleen, explained his relationship with his brother’s widow, “Hallie and I are incredibly lucky to have found the love and support we have for each other in such a difficult time, and that’s been obvious to the people who love us most. We’ve been so lucky to have family and friends who have supported us every step of the way.”

Joe and wife Dr. Jill have given the duo their blessing, “We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness,” Biden apparently said. “They have mine and Jill’s full and complete support and we are happy for them.”

Here’s the breakdown of the bizarre, complicated family dynamic:

Hallie has two young children with her late husband and Hunter has three with his now estranged wife. If Hunter and Hallie decided to get married, the Biden cousins will become step-siblings.

Folks on social media are quite perplexed by the relationship, check out some of the reactions below:
