Tax March Statement On President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress

*Washington, D.C. – Below is a statement released by the Tax March executive committee in response to President Trump’s joint address to Congress:

“Tonight Donald Trump talked about his plan to cut taxes, but failed to mention how much of his proposal would benefit the extremely rich, families like his own. Can we believe he’s pushing for more than broad tax cuts that he or his family will benefit from? The American public simply does not know, and cannot know, not until he releases his tax returns and we can see the extent of his financial history. Once again, we ask President Trump to do what he has previously promised: show us his tax returns, show us what he’s hiding.” – Maura Quint, Tax March executive committee member

The Tax March isn’t an organization – it’s a movement – gaining momentum around the country. Throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump told the American people he would release his tax returns and come clean about his business dealings, as presidential candidates and presidents have done for decades. Despite intense public pressure, President Donald Trump has not yet done so. In refusing to release these tax returns, he is able to hide his business dealings, financial ties, and conflicts of interest. On April 15, we’re marching on Washington, D.C., and in communities across the country, to show that the president is accountable to the American people, and we want to know what he’s hiding.
