*It’s no secret that comedian Mike Epps is not a fan of fellow funny man Kevin Hart and has made that fact known several times. So if you hear about his head exploding, it could be because he caught wind of the following story.

An announcement by MTV today states comedian, actor and television producer, Kevin Hart will receive the MTV “Comedic Genius Award” during the “2015 MTV Movie Awards” airing LIVE on Sunday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT from Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

The award will be presented by another funny man, late night TV host, Jimmy Kimmel. Hart is being honored for his bold and irreverent comedic style which has captivated audiences from his movies and sitcoms, to stand-up specials, award show performances and hordes of fans in packed arenas.  Hart’s “Get Hard” co-star Will Ferrell was the first recipient of the award in 2013.

Recognized for his raw and unfiltered comedy, Kevin Hart joins a star-studded line-up this year that includes host Amy Schumer, “Trailblazer Award” recipient Shailene Woodley and confirmed presenters Miles Teller, Reese Witherspoon, Vin Diesel and Sofia Vergara.

Before Hart came on the scene he worked as a shoe salesman. But it was when he tried his comedy at an Amateur Night at a Philadelphia comedy club that he got hooked instantly and quit his job to start performing full time. In 2011, during the “Laugh At My Pain” comedy tour, he sold out the Nokia Theater two nights in a row, breaking the record previously set by Eddie Murphy.

Hart’s passion for his work keeps him busy and he continues to sell out audiences as he tours the country. His empire has grown to include the box-office hits: Ride Along, The Wedding Ringer, Think Like A Man, The Five Year Engagement, Little Fockers, Fool’s Gold, Death at a Funeral, Along Came Polly and The 40 Year Old Virgin. His latest movie, Get Hard, with Will Ferrell, opened this weekend.  Hart has  also been successful as the executive producer of the TV reality show, “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” and other television credits include his most recent role as Roast Master for the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber.

This year’s “Movie Awards” nominees span every film genre from dystopian universes (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Maze Runner) to heart-felt coming of age stories (The Fault In Our Stars and Boyhood), out-of-this-world comedies (Guardians of the Galaxy, Neighbors, The Interview, The Wedding Ringer and Top Five), real-life heroes (Selma and American Sniper) and more. Fans will witness epic match-ups between the likes of Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt taking on funny-men Chris Rock and Kevin Hart for “Best Comedic Performance,” Rosario Dawson battling it out with Jason Sudeikis, Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen for “Best WTF Moment,” Meryl Streep and J.K. Simmons vying for “Best Villain” and tfrgZac Efron defending his 2014 title for “Best Shirtless Performance” against the beautiful Kate Upton and teen heartthrob Ansel Elgort.

Additional nominees include: Reese Witherspoon, David Oyelowo, Scarlett Johansson, Eddie Redmayne, Jennifer Lawrence, Dylan O’Brien, Emma Stone, Chris Pratt, Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, James Franco, Rosamund Pike, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks and many more.

Fans can cast their votes for their favorites at www.MovieAwards.MTV.com through Saturday, April 11. Voting for “Movie of the Year” will continue throughout the live broadcast of the show.

  1. I have to agree with you on that – he is good, but hasn’t been in the game long enough to be called “Genius”, yet! That title belongs to the following: Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Lucille Ball, Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac and a host of others that have at least 25 – 45 years of experience. I am not hating on Kevin, as he is good and does a lot of great things, but the title isn’t befitting of him just yet. Let his comedic chops marinate for a few more years, then bestow this honor to him!
