*Chris Brown is facing mounting pressure as his legal battle with former housekeeper Maria Avila continues.
The singer’s legal team recently informed the court that he had relocated to Nevada, making it difficult for him to attend an in-person deposition, InTouch reports. The case relates to Avila’s lawsuit, where she alleges that a dog belonging to Brown attacked her in 2020 while she was working at the singer’s home in Los Angeles.
The incident, according to Avila, resulted in severe, permanent injuries, prompting her to seek $90 million in damages. As part of the legal process, Avila’s team has been attempting to secure a deposition with Brown for several months. She claims that despite numerous efforts to arrange a date, including multiple requests in early 2025, she has faced repeated delays and lack of communication from Brown’s representatives.
In a recent court hearing, Brown’s legal team refuted the notion that the delays were intentional or that they were stalling the process. They clarified that they began representing the singer in August 2024 and had been making efforts to schedule the deposition. Additionally, they explained that Brown’s busy touring schedule made his availability limited.
Brown’s attorneys noted that the issue was procedural, not deliberate misconduct. They offered to arrange the deposition in Nevada, within 75 miles of Brown’s home but had not received a response from the court. They are now asking the judge to dismiss the sanctions request from Avila, who sought $7,560 in penalties for the delays.

Avila claims Brown was present when the dog attack occurred and failed to intervene. He allegedly instructed his bodyguards to dispose of the dog to destroy evidence. The bodyguards then abandoned the canine in Humboldt County, Northern California. It was later found and euthanized by the humane society.
As the case progresses, both sides continue to clash over the facts, with Brown’s team contending that Avila’s actions, which included teasing, abusing, and mistreating the dog, were the catalyst for the incident. They stated, “She knew her foregoing conduct might cause the dog to attack her and seriously injure her, both of which events are alleged to have occurred.”
