*Eugene “Big U” Henley, a well-known entertainment executive and former leader of South Los Angeles’ Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, is facing a slew of federal charges, including extortion, fraud, human trafficking, and murder. The Justice Department has accused Henley of running a mafia-like criminal enterprise under the guise of his nonprofit, Developing Options.
Henley, who executive produced FX’s “Hip Hop Uncovered,” surrendered to authorities after a federal indictment charged him under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, Complex reports. In a video shared on social media before his arrest, he expressed his frustration over the accusations, claiming that law enforcement was targeting him unfairly and accusing industry figure Wack 100 of cooperating with federal investigators to undermine his business and reputation.
Authorities allege that Henley leveraged his influence and gang connections to intimidate businesses and individuals across Los Angeles. Prosecutors claim he extorted musicians and athletes, requiring them to pay for protection when visiting the city. An affidavit details how he allegedly embezzled funds meant for community programs, including donations from NBA stars Draymond Green and Shaquille O’Neal. Investigators found that large sums of money from Developing Options, which was funded by the city’s Gang Reduction and Youth Development program, were funneled into Henley’s personal accounts instead of being used for community initiatives.
The indictment also accuses Henley of violent crimes, including the 2021 murder of a young rapper whose body was later discovered in the Las Vegas desert. Federal agents believe Henley’s enterprise operated with the same level of coercion and brutality as an organized crime syndicate, using threats and violence to maintain control over financial dealings and street activities.
In addition to financial fraud and murder, Henley is accused of human trafficking and other violent crimes linked to his alleged leadership of the criminal enterprise. Authorities claim that his nonprofit served as a front to conceal illegal activities while continuing to exert influence over the Los Angeles entertainment and street scene.

Despite the serious allegations, Henley has maintained his innocence. Before turning himself in, he stated that the charges were part of a broader effort to dismantle his influence in the community. He also accused law enforcement of intimidating his supporters and blocking funding for his organization.
“So, this is probably going to be my last video. I’m going to turn myself in and see what’s going on,” bIG u said in a viral video. “They’re calling me a fugitive. They just raided all my houses. 600 was actually with the police when they raided my house. He even has video footage of it. So y’all know what you’re dealing with.”
He continued: “I just want to say this—when they raided my houses and my property, they was asking about Wack [100]. Wack, Loose Cannon, 600 and this internet stuff. All of y’all foul.”
Big U also claimed that Wack 100 worked with the FBI to sabotage him.
“If you had something against a Black man, handle it with a Black man in the streets,” he said. “Wack said 100 times he was gonna take my contracts. He working with the FBI. The FBI went to the city, three days in a row and told the city they didn’t want nobody to give me no more money.”
