*Faith Evans honored the late Voletta Wallace in a post shared on social media, highlighting the deep connection they shared over the years.
Wallace, the mother of rap icon The Notorious B.I.G., passed away on February 21 at the age of 72 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. According to Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac, she died of natural causes while receiving hospice care. Faith and Biggie tied the knot in 1994 and had one child. Despite her complicated history with the late rapper, she and Wallace maintained a strong bond long after his passing in 1997.
“Although words cannot truly capture the incredible impact you have had on all of us,” Faith wrote, “I will always remember your strength, effortless grace, and your commitment to protecting BIG’s legacy.”
Per Hot97, she added, “May your spirit live on in the lives you’ve touched and your wisdom continue to be a lesson to us all. Take your well deserved rest Ms. Wallace with BIG once again by your side — until we meet again [dove emoji] [dove emoji].”
Voletta was a driving force behind preserving her son’s legacy. She played a crucial role in overseeing Biggie’s estate, including managing licensing and merchandising deals.

Born Christopher Wallace, the Brooklyn rap icon was 24 years old when he was fatally shot in 1997. Since then, his estate has continued to generate revenue through posthumous releases. Notorious B.I.G. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 and the hip-hop icon has been celebrated in various documentaries and the 2009 biopic “Notorious.”
We reported earlier that music publishing powerhouse Primary Wave is reportedly on the verge of securing a substantial share of B.I.G.’s catalog, including rights to his name and likeness.
The deal, which could be finalized in the coming weeks, is estimated to be worth between $100 million and $150 million, according to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter.
