Charlie Kirk’s Accused Killer Staying Silent After Arrest
*Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is not talking to investigators, according to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.
Cox made the statement during multiple Sunday morning interviews, revealing that Robinson has refused to cooperate with the FBI or local law enforcement.

Governor Cox: Motive Still Unclear in Kirk Shooting
Gov. Cox said officials are still working to uncover Robinson’s motive. He noted the investigation is ongoing and more details will be released on Tuesday (09-16-25).
“There will be official charges filed on Tuesday, and there will be much more evidence and information available then,” Cox said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Suspect Criticized Kirk at Family Dinner Before Attack
Relatives say Robinson had recently become “radicalized” and expressed strong criticism of Kirk. He allegedly called Kirk “full of hate and spreading hate.”
Gov. Cox said Robinson’s views were in direct contrast to his conservative family and labeled him “clearly a leftist.”

Transgender Romantic Partner May Hold Key Evidence in Case
Robinson was in a romantic relationship with a transgender roommate, identified as Lance Twiggs, a student from Utah Tech University.
According to Cox, Twiggs has been fully cooperative and “shocked” by the events. They shared Discord messages and texts with investigators.
Digital Messages Reveal Plot Details and Rifle Pickup
Messages from the suspect’s phone and Discord accounts discussed retrieving a rifle from a drop point. Bullet casings at the scene match those mentioned.
Robinson also made jokes in group chats after the shooting, claiming a “doppelganger” carried out the crime. He appeared to be following news updates closely.
Charlie Kirk Shot at UVU Event Before Large Crowd
Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was addressing a crowd during an outdoor campus debate.
The 31-year-old was a co-founder of Turning Point USA and a vocal supporter of former President Trump. He is survived by his wife Erika and two children.

Legal Charges and Upcoming Court Appearance
Robinson is currently being held without bail at Utah County Jail under special watch for suicide risk. Formal charges are expected on Tuesday.
- Aggravated murder
- Felony discharge of a firearm causing serious injury
- Obstruction of justice
Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray will determine whether to seek the death penalty. Gov. Cox publicly stated that he hopes prosecutors pursue capital punishment.
Political Firestorm Follows Assassination of Kirk
The killing has sparked outrage across political lines. Former President Trump praised the FBI’s quick arrest and demanded the death penalty.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, vowed to expand Turning Point USA in honor of her husband. Far-right voices speculated about a “trans terror cell,” amplifying conspiracy theories.
Progressives Condemn Violence, Raise Free Speech Questions
Many on the left acknowledged Kirk’s controversial views but condemned the assassination. Outlets warned against misinformation on social media.
Some users spread false claims linking Robinson to Democratic campaigns. Others called for unity in the face of escalating political violence.
Airline Employees Suspended Over Mocking Posts
Delta and American Airlines suspended workers for posting celebratory comments online about Kirk’s death. The companies cited violations of conduct policies.
This fallout adds to the rising tension around political rhetoric and how public figures are mourned—or mocked—online.
Why the Kirk Assassination Investigation Matters
This case has opened a national conversation about extremism, identity, and political violence. Officials warn it may mark a turning point in U.S. history.
Gov. Cox called the killing a “watershed” moment and urged Americans to seek unity, not revenge, as the investigation moves forward.
