*AT&T has increased its monthly Administrative & Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee from $3.49 to $3.99 per line. The company says this fee helps cover expenses for connecting with other providers and paying government-mandated costs.
“Like others in the industry, we regularly evaluate and adjust fees to help cover the costs associated with delivering and maintaining our wireless network,” an AT&T spokesperson told PhoneArena, per The Street. “This adjustment allows us to continue investing in our network and technology in order to provide the high-quality service that our customers expect.”
The change comes after AT&T CEO Stankey emphasized in October that the company is careful when raising prices. “We don’t just raise prices to raise prices,” he said. “We raise prices when we think we’ve given the customer greater value.”

In related news, AT&T is ending its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, following recent legal developments and joining other major companies, including Amazon, Verizon Communications, Meta, T-Mobile, Lowe’s, and McDonald’s, in scaling back similar initiatives.
“AT&T has always stood for merit-based opportunity, and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination today,” wrote David McAtee, senior executive vice president and general counsel at AT&T.
“Consistent with applicable law, our multi-pronged approach allows employees to thrive in an environment free from invidious discrimination. Our hiring, training, and career development opportunities are not and will not be based on or limited by race, gender, or other protected characteristics.”
