*Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official teaser for “The Mummy,” signaling a bold new direction for one of horror’s most enduring stories. The film marks the next project from writer-director Lee Cronin, following the commercial success of “Evil Dead Rise,” and positions the classic mythology within a darker, more unsettling framework.
The story centers on a journalist’s family whose lives are shattered when his young daughter vanishes into the desert without explanation. Eight years later, she is suddenly returned, turning what appears to be a long-awaited reunion into a disturbing and dangerous ordeal. The film reframes the concept of resurrection through a deeply personal lens, grounding supernatural horror in family trauma.
The cast is led by Jack Reynor and Laia Costa, alongside May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. Cronin not only directs the project but also penned the screenplay, continuing his hands-on creative approach to genre filmmaking. Production duties are shared by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville, with executive producers Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Cronin.

Behind the camera, Cronin assembled a seasoned creative team to shape the film’s atmosphere and visual language.
Director of photography Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, and costume designer Joanna Eatwell contribute to the film’s aesthetic, while Stephen McKeon provides the score. Casting was handled by Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo.
“The Mummy” is presented by New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse, and produced under the Wicked/Good Production banner.
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film worldwide, with a theatrical and IMAX release scheduled for April 17, 2026, in North America. International audiences will see the film beginning April 15, 2026.
The teaser positions Cronin’s reinterpretation as a departure from previous versions, emphasizing psychological tension and sustained dread. With a modern creative team and a horror-focused approach, “The Mummy” aims to reintroduce the iconic story to a new generation of audiences.
