*KFC has turned an April Fools’ joke into a surprising reality with the launch of a fried chicken-flavored toothpaste.
Originally intended as a gag, the product gained traction after fans expressed genuine interest, The Straits Times reports. Partnering with Australian oral care brand HiSmile, KFC infused the toothpaste with its iconic blend of 11 secret herbs and spices. The companies announced the launch on Instagram, writing: “Not a prank. It’s here. And it’s Finger Lickin’ Good.”
According to a company statement quoted by Food & Wine, the toothpaste mimics the sensation of “biting into a hot, juicy piece of KFC Original Recipe Chicken,” while still leaving the mouth feeling “fresh and clean.”
HiSmile’s marketing manager, Koban Jones, said the idea evolved from a joke. “We love pushing boundaries, and what better way to do that than by bringing KFC’s legendary flavours into an everyday essential?” he explained.
HiSmile, known for its flavored toothpastes and themed collections, including tie-ins with “The Simpsons,” sells this chicken-flavored variety for $13 in the U.S. A $72 limited edition set, which includes an electric toothbrush featuring Colonel Sanders’ face, has also been made available. However, due to high demand, both items are sold out, with no word on restocks or international availability.
