Tyler Perry shares why he fired his aunt from a job
*Tyler Perry may be worth over $1.4 billion, but he still expects hard work from his family. On a new episode of Kirk Franklin‘s “Den of Kings” podcast, Perry revealed he once had to fire his own aunt for not showing up to work. He said she kept asking for money, so he offered her a job instead.
“She said she wanted a job. She would always call asking for money,” Perry explained. “I said, ‘Listen, I want to help you build this thing, not be welfare to you.'” But after giving her a chance, she rarely showed up to work. So Perry told her, “‘Okay, well you gotta go.'”
Perry doesn’t believe in handouts, even for his son
During the roundtable talk with Jeezy and Derrick Haynes, Perry stressed that he wants his 10-year-old son, Aman, to understand the value of work too. “He has to do chores and work for what he wants,” Perry shared. “I don’t believe in giving us things that are just going to handicap us.”
Perry added that handing out money without expectations leads to failure. “That is the worst thing you can do,” he said. His focus is on building people up, not making them dependent on his wealth.
