*LaVar Ball has confirmed that his marriage to Tina Ball has ended after decades together.
During a livestream with N3on, Ball said Tina had chosen to leave the relationship. The couple married in 1997 after first crossing paths at Cal State Los Angeles, where both competed in athletics.
“You know with my wife, Tina, decided to go her own way. That’s why you don’t see her right here,” LaVar said, SandraRose.com reports. “But she want to go do something else, that’s fine with me. We had our run. So even though she had the stroke, and getting older, she would never be like, ‘Oh man, she was always beautiful in my eyes.’ Until you say, ‘I want to go do something else.’ Now you’re not as beautiful to me again.”
The split marks a major personal shift for the Ball family, whose name became widely known through basketball, business, and reality television. LaVar and Tina raised Lonzo Ball, LiAngelo Ball, and LaMelo Ball, with Lonzo and LaMelo reaching the NBA.
Their family’s public profile grew in the 2010s. Big Baller Brand launched in 2016, and “Ball in the Family” later gave viewers a closer look at their home life and personal struggles. Tina’s health also became part of that story. She suffered a major stroke in February 2017, and the reality series chronicled her recovery.
LaVar also mentioned during the livestream that he has started a new relationship, though he did not give the woman’s full name. He said she works for him and referred to her as “Amor”.
“The fact that if you decide to go this way, I’m going to go that way, that’s fine,” he said during the livestream about his marriage, adding, “That’s deep. It is what it is, man. And like I said, anytime you can find somebody you can stay in love with for a long time or for one day or whatever, if you can witness that love, that’s good. I had that with her. And I found somebody else, but it is what it is.”
LaVar has also faced his own health issues this year. In February, he revealed that diabetes complications led doctors to amputate his right foot. Doctors later removed his right leg, and he now walks with a prosthetic leg.
