*The ongoing battle surrounding Wendy Williams‘ conservatorship has taken another dramatic turn, as her niece, Alex Finnie, finds herself the subject of a police complaint.
The Manhattan assisted living facility where Williams resides alleges that Finnie violated the law when she took her aunt out for dinner on March 12. The facility, known as the Coterie, contacted the New York Police Department (NYPD) after Finnie took Williams out for a meal. According to TMZ, the facility, where Williams has been staying for the past eight months, accused Finnie of “evading staff” when she left the premises with her aunt. However, insiders counter this claim, stating that a staff member escorted Williams and Finnie to the lobby and assisted them in getting into an Uber.
Sources state that earlier that day, Finnie had accompanied Williams to a psychological evaluation before returning with her to the Coterie. Later, Finnie took Williams to an Italian restaurant for dinner. While they were out, the facility filed the complaint, claiming Finnie had removed Williams without authorization.
According to reports, Williams is not permitted to leave the memory care unit of the facility unassisted. However, a letter obtained by TMZ from the attorney representing Williams’ court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, suggests that Williams is allowed to come and go freely. The letter also confirms that there are no restrictions on family visits, making the facility’s decision to file a complaint against Finnie appear contradictory.
Upon returning from dinner, Williams and Finnie addressed the situation in front of photographers before reentering the facility.

Finnie explained, “I was told that, at some point, the police were called because the Coterie here was saying allegedly that I took my aunt from this facility and whisked her away without any sort of confirmation or approval.”
Williams herself expressed disbelief over the situation, calling the police report “unbelievable.” She pointed out that the facility’s reaction contradicted claims that she was free to leave and have visitors.
“Clearly they are lying to me saying I can go out and do what I want to do. This is my niece Alex. She just flew in from Miami, ok? I just came from the hospital, so we are going out to celebrate,” Williams said, per New York Post.
