*Controversial Pan Africanism activist Dr. Umar Johnson has turned to social media to rally support for his Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey Academy. In a bold move, he’s offering a “free lunch” with himself for a $500 donation, targeting professional women among his dedicated followers.
“I got a new program coming out for the ladies, it’s called ‘Lunch with the Doctor,’” Johnson announced in a live stream, SandraRose.com reports. “You make a $500 donation to FDMG Academy, ladies. $500 donation to FDMG Academy and you get a free lunch with Dr. Umar.”
He sweetened the deal, allowing donors to choose any restaurant in Delaware for the private meal. “Ladies, you gotta donate $500 to the FDMG Academy and I will take you to lunch, private lunch, any restaurant you want in the state of Delaware.”
The pitch didn’t sit well with everyone. Male viewers mocked Johnson during the livestream, prompting a fiery response. “We gotta stop hating, brothas,” he said. “‘Cause if I ask your wife if she want that luncheon… If I ask your baby mom do she want that luncheon with the doctor, we know what she gon’ say.”
He went further, calling their partners “live-in prisoners” and taunting, “Don’t test my intellectual gangster.”

He added, “If I roll up on your girlfriend – your live-in prisoner you call a girlfriend – who ain’t there because she wanna be – she there ’cause she got to be. If I roll up on your romantic prisoner, my brotha. Do she want that lunch date with the doctor? Do your wifey want that lunch date with the doctor? I think we all know the answer to that.”
The backlash on X was swift. One user urged, “Times are hard ladies, go spend that $500 at the grocery store and stay far away from this kind of idiocy.” Another questioned, “why wouldn’t they jus use some of their own $500 to take themselves out to lunch????” A third was blunt: “It’s time for the Black community to stop financing a lunatic. Dr. Umar Johnson is a functioning sociopathic narcissist at this point. Embarrassing.”
Johnson’s financial woes extend beyond the academy. In a viral video, he revealed that both his personal and academy bank accounts were frozen after a hacking attempt.
“For my loyal supporters out there, if you can spare a few dollars, so I can take care of Queen Mother Ifantunde and myself, until my bank account is frozen or cancelled so I can get my money back and open up a new account, please hit my Apple Pay or hit my PayPal,” he pleaded.
The issue surfaced when a friend texted him for financial help, only for Johnson to discover his own accounts were inaccessible. With his funds tied up pending a bank investigation, Johnson faces uncertainty about covering his bills. His latest fundraising tactic has reignited debates about his methods and leadership, leaving supporters and critics alike questioning the future of his academy and his controversial approach to keeping it afloat.
