*Taylor Swift is the most culturally visible celebrity in America in 2026, according to a new analysis examining millions of media mentions and public-interest signals.
BetMGM Casino’s Celebrity Cultural Visibility Index evaluated 100 major celebrities using five measurements: U.S. news coverage, television and radio appearances, podcast mentions, Google searches and Wikipedia page views. The analysis found that the amount of media coverage a celebrity receives does not always match the level of interest from the public.
Swift claimed the top spot with a Cultural Index score of 67.87 and accounted for 7.1% of the 6.6 million media mentions analyzed. Her visibility was driven primarily by media coverage, which represented 73.67% of her score.
Michael Jackson ranked second with a score of 50.25, demonstrating the lasting strength of his cultural influence 17 years after his death. Public-interest activity accounted for 64.27% of his score, compared with 35.73% from media visibility.

LeBron James placed third, followed by Bad Bunny, while Sydney Sweeney landed at No. 5. Sweeney stands out as one of the biggest examples of public interest outpacing media attention. Her public-interest share reached 83.11%, and she generated 4.6 million monthly U.S. Google searches—well above Swift’s 2.9 million.
Tom Brady ranked sixth, with 82.95% of his score attributed to media visibility. Simone Biles, meanwhile, came in seventh despite having only 7.2% of her score driven by media coverage. A striking 92.8% came from public-interest signals.
Jimmy Kimmel ranked eighth, followed by Tom Cruise and Travis Kelce.
The findings suggest that traditional media exposure alone doesn’t necessarily determine who commands the public’s attention. Some celebrities dominate headlines, while others generate significant interest through searches and online activity without receiving comparable coverage.
The index offers a broader way to measure celebrity influence by examining who Americans are talking about and who they are actively seeking out.
