*Tasha Cobbs Leonard and John Legend’s collaboration “Church” soared to No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart dated Nov. 29, moving up from 3-1.
According to Luminate, the track saw a 15% increase in plays across the United States during the Nov. 14-20 tracking week, highlighting a major week for both performers.
The song marks Cobbs Leonard’s 10th No. 1 on Gospel Airplay.
She told Billboard, “The sound, the lyrics and the heart behind it seemed to resonate across audiences. I’m so grateful to the stations who gave it a chance and to the listeners who kept showing up for it.”

“Church” also marks Legend’s first entry and first No. 1 on the Gospel Airplay chart.
“I grew up singing and playing in the church. So, I have a profound respect for the tradition of gospel music and gospel radio,” Legend said. “To have ‘Church’ reach No. 1 on the Gospel Airplay chart and to get my first ever Grammy nomination in the Gospel category is a blessing.”
“Church” is up for best gospel performance/song at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Feb. 1. The track appears on Cobbs Leonard’s latest album, “Tasha,” which debuted at No. 1 on Top Gospel Albums in August. The album is nominated for best gospel album at the upcoming Grammys.
