*A New York City detective is at the center of controversy after a video surfaced of her pole-dancing in a revealing outfit for a rap music video.
Melissa Mercado, a seven-year veteran of the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit, appears in the viral video for the song Doin That by rapper S-Quire, wearing a thong and bra while performing sultry dance moves.
“I have no words,” a shocked detective told The Post in response to the footage.
The video, which has been widely shared among law enforcement circles, has sparked debate within the NYPD. Some officers argue that Mercado’s off-duty actions should remain private.
“What she’s doing really has nothing to do with her as an employee, as an NYC detective,” a police union source said, adding that she wasn’t representing the department in the clip.

“She’s not wearing NYPD paraphernalia. Nothing in the video says she’s a detective.”
However, the same source acknowledged that if she was being paid for the appearance, she would be required to disclose the side job.
Retired NYPD Special Victims Division Chief Michael Osgood weighed in, stating, “There’s a line of thinking that what you do off duty, you do off duty. But I think this conduct is unbecoming a police officer.”
The video’s creators claim they had no idea Mercado was an NYPD detective when she was hired.
“None of us were aware of … what her main profession was,” director Pitch Perfect told TMZ. He also revealed that Mercado has since received multiple offers to appear in other music videos.
“Everyone loved this model,” the director said, with S-Quire agreeing, calling her a “beautiful woman.”
“I’ve had tons of artists reach out trying to get her in their video,” Pitch Perfect told the outlet, “If you look at it like that, it might be a great thing for her. I think she wins”
“She was one of the stars,” of the “Doin That” music video, the director added.
While it remains unclear if Mercado will face disciplinary action, her appearance has reignited discussions about police officers’ personal conduct and the boundaries of their professional image.
