Morris fans can catch him as Dr. John Watson in the new CBS series “Watson,” playing Sherlock Holmes’ trusted colleague. In the show’s January premiere, executive producer Craig Sweeny cleverly incorporated a scene where Watson removes his shirt, giving fans a glimpse of Chestnut’s impressive six-pack abs.
“We wanted to show Watson’s physicality at some point,” Chestnut explained to USA TODAY of the moment. “I knew after the pilot episode that I would be exhausted from the schedule and not have the gym time. So I told Craig, if we’re going to do it, it’s now. I have the time. He put the scene in.”
Chestnut attributes his impressive physique to good genes and daily workouts of two hours at three different gym franchises.
“Being at the gym is part of my everyday life,” he said. “I’m a morning person. When I go early, I don’t have to wait at a machine.”
“Watson” airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. PST/EST.
