*Maury Povich may be stepping into a surprising new role: resolving conflicts in the hip hop world.
On an appearance with Sherri Shepherd on “Sherri,” the former talk show host revealed that he’s considering primetime specials dedicated to settling rap rivalries, Page Six reports. “I would come out of retirement if I could get Nicki [Minaj] and Cardi B to settle their differences with lie detector tests,” Povich said, referencing the signature polygraph moments from his daytime show.
Povich also floated the idea of mediating another high-profile music industry dispute between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. “How about if Drake and Kendrick did the same thing? I’d come out of retirement,” he continued. “I’ve put it out there, I’ve put it out there. … We could do a primetime special,” he said.

After retiring from his long-running daytime show, Povich is now exploring ways to blend his signature mediation style with the drama of contemporary hip hop, signaling that his skills at uncovering truth and resolving conflict could find a new audience in primetime.
The “Maury” show aired for 31 seasons from 1991 to 2022, producing 5,545 episodes and often featuring paternity tests. It holds the record as the longest-running American daytime talk show hosted by a single person.
