*Mathew Knowles says he is considering legal action after a previously unseen portion of a television interview circulated online, capturing the moment he ended a discussion about his former wife, Tina Knowles, and her involvement with Destiny’s Child.
The segment originated from a Jan. 30 interview Knowles recorded with New York television station PIX11. Page Six later shared the clip, which was not included in the full interview available on YouTube. How the outlet obtained the footage has not been explained.
During the conversation, anchor Kendis Gibson acknowledged the long-running success of Destiny’s Child and credited both of Beyoncé’s parents for their contributions. Gibson told Knowles they had each “earned their flowers” and added, “I said the same thing to Ms. Tina Knowles. You guys put in the work, and obviously the talent was there.”
Knowles responded by questioning that characterization, asking, “What work did she put in?” Gibson then referenced Tina’s role in shaping the group’s appearance, pointing to “the hair, the clothes” worn by Beyoncé and the other members. Knowles acknowledged that point, replying, “You’re absolutely right. The styling, the imaging.”

The exchange shifted when Gibson suggested the group’s achievements “was a joint effort.” Knowles ended the discussion shortly afterward, saying, “We’ll stop now.”
After the clip began circulating online, commenters on Page Six’s YouTube page reacted strongly. Some viewers described Knowles as “bitter” and a “true narcissist.” Speaking with Page Six afterward, Knowles said the moment had been misunderstood and noted that Gibson’s comments minimized Tina’s contributions to Destiny’s Child.
Knowles emphasized her role in shaping the group’s visual identity, saying she “did the styling, built the image for Destiny’s Child. Wouldn’t you agree that’s way more than saying someone just did the hair?”
He also pushed back on the idea that there is tension between him and his former wife. “People try to bait us all the time to be against each other,” he said, adding that the situation was “a complete misrepresentation here, and I’m evaluating all legal remedies at this time.”
