*Lay’s, known for its ever-evolving lineup of chips, has just introduced a new addition that stands out from the rest—Lay’s Poppables Sweet Potato Sea Salt.
For the first time in North America, Lay’s has launched a sweet potato-based chip under its popular Poppables line. Originally debuting in 2017, Poppables are known for their airy, waffle-patterned texture, offering a lighter alternative to traditional chips. The new Sweet Potato Sea Salt variety is made with real sweet potatoes and contains no artificial flavors or colors.
According to All Recipies, the taste strikes a balance—sweet potato fans will enjoy the familiar flavor, while those who don’t typically prefer them may still find it appealing due to its subtlety. The texture is particularly noteworthy, reminiscent of the now-discontinued 3D Doritos from the ‘90s.
With sweet potatoes listed as the third ingredient, following potato starch and vegetable oil, the chips achieve a crispy bite without an overpowering sweetness.
Lay’s Poppables Sweet Potato Sea Salt snacks are now available nationwide.
