*Jonathan Majors is back in front of a camera after a years-long absence from the screen. The actor has returned to set for the first time since his career was derailed, joining a Daily Wire production currently filming in South Carolina.
Deadline reports that director Kyle Rankin is helming the project from his own screenplay. Details remain tightly guarded, though the film is said to channel the spirit of classic action titles like “Red Dawn” and “Toy Soldiers.” Ben Shapiro and Dallas Sonnier are producing, alongside Travis Mills, Lillian Campbell, and Sydney Aucreman. Majors is also attached to the supernatural revenge thriller “Merciless,” directed by Martin Villeneuve.
Majors’s Hollywood career has been on ice since his 2023 guilty verdict for assaulting his former girlfriend. The conviction triggered several projects cutting ties with him. His most recent project, 2025’s “Magazine Dreams,” about an aspiring bodybuilder, struggled to attract audiences at the box office. The movie earned about $700,000 across 815 theaters, falling short of Briarcliff Entertainment’s $1 million opening weekend goal despite strong reviews and online buzz, per CBR.
The announcement of his Daily Wire comeback generated a divided response online. Some questioned whether the project represents a true return at all, with one commenter writing, “How is a Daily Wire film that may not even get wide distribution a ‘comeback’?” Others were more pointed about the choice of studio, asking, “Come on Jonathan, you can’t be THAT desperate for work.”
