*Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) responded to Vice President Vance’s remarks, questioning the authenticity of her “street girl persona” and taking aim at her nails during a speech at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest.
“She wants to be a senator, though her street girl persona is about as real as her nails,” Vance said while criticizing Democrats.
Crockett replied on X, writing, “Imagine commenting on someone’s nails while at the same time ignoring that the only reason you got your political ‘dream’ job was because your boss incited a violent mob who wanted to hang your predecessor for, oh I don’t know, honoring his oath to the Constitution?!” she wrote, referencing the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
She added, “How about you stop worrying about me, until we are on the Senate floor together & work to stop your boss from bankrupting our country while engaging in the largest corruption scheme we’ve ever seen?!”

The exchange comes as Crockett recently launched her Senate bid in Texas, aiming to unseat Republican Sen. John Cornyn in 2026. Her campaign has stirred debate within the Democratic Party. According to Axios, some House Democrats worry that Crockett’s outspoken, anti-Trump stance could alienate swing voters, potentially weakening Democratic performance in Texas, including in competitive House districts that could affect control of the lower chamber.
One senior House Democrat, speaking anonymously, said, “She might win a primary, but she ain’t winning a general in Texas.” Another added, “It’s concerning for [swing] districts … I think it’s a bad decision.”
Despite skepticism from some Democrats, others are supportive. Rep. Becca Balint (D-Vt.) said, “Crockett is an extremely talented messenger and has engaged millions of Americans across the country. She understands rough and tumble Texas politics and can more than hold her own.” Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) added, “I believe that she can win.”
A recent poll shows Crockett leading state Rep. James Talarico by eight points, reflecting strong backing as her Senate campaign gains visibility.
“What they are fearful of is my authenticity.”
