*Jalen Hurts has been named the NFL’s most disliked player, according to a Vegas Insider study that examined Reddit discussions among fans. According to Vegas Insider, Hurts earned a perfect “Hate Score” of 10.0, despite a season that included a Super Bowl MVP and multiple other accolades.
Critics continue to question Hurts’ abilities, labeling him overrated or even a fraud, though the debate does not focus on any specific shortcomings on the field. NFL legends Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe offered insight into the criticism during appearances on Nightcap with Sharpe.
“They don’t like the way he does things, but he only does what they ask of him,” Johnson said. “And the results — even though it’s not pretty, even though it’s not aesthetically pleasing to the eye — Jalen Hurts wins all the time.”

Sharpe emphasized that Hurts’ calm demeanor contributes to the negative perception. “People are like, ‘Is he really this buttoned up? Is he really this matter of fact?’” Sharpe said. “He’s not excited. … You’re not going to even give yourself an opportunity to celebrate the Super Bowl?”
While neither Johnson nor Sharpe take issue with Hurts’ personality, they noted that his quiet focus can make it harder for teammates to relate. Sharpe described him as a professional who prioritizes his work and personal life: “He’s married and seems to be happy in his situation. He seems to be a loner,” Sharpe said. “He seems to be about, ‘Hey, I’m here to do a job, the best job I possibly can. And I’m going home to my wife.’”
Hurts’ mix of consistent victories and a no-frills approach to football continues to spark both admiration and criticism, solidifying his reputation as one of the most polarizing figures in the league today.
