*Jalen Hurts is going from Super Bowl standout to published author with his first children’s book.
The page-turner, titled “Better Than a Touchdown,” tells the story of a young boy named Jalen, who harbors big dreams of joining his school football team, People reports, adding that Jalen and his friends must figure out a way to save the team after Jalen learns it has been cut.
Hurts announced on June 23 that he will publish “Better Than a Touchdown” through the Penguin Random House imprint Flamingo Books. Commenting on the 26-year-old Philadelphia Eagles quarterback’s dedication to the project, Flamingo Books vice president and Publisher Margaret Anastas noted how young fans are in for a treat.
“From the moment I met Jalen, it was clear he would pour his heart and soul into this book — and he has done that and more,” Anastas voiced in a statement shared with People.
“Working with him has been an absolute privilege, and I am so excited for Jalen’s youngest fans to read his wonderful, inspiring book.”

Through The Jalen Hurts Foundation, Hurts, the organization’s founder, works to provide resources, support groups and positive role models to youth in the Philadelphia community and beyond.
At the heart of “Better Than a Touchdown” are reflections of advice Hurts received over the years as well as how listening to others can help young readers

Jalen Hurts’ “Better Than a Touchdown” which features illustrations by Nenka Myers, will be published on March 10, 2026. Preorders are available to place now wherever books are sold.
