*Funk Flex is set to step into the Hot 97 morning slot after the long-running show “Ebro in the Morning” came to an end.
MediaCo, the parent company of the New York hip-hop station, confirmed that Flex will host during the day beginning December 15. The move comes shortly after Ebro Darden announced the conclusion of his morning program.
The syndicated “Ebro in the Morning,” featuring Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez, had been a staple of Hot 97 for over a decade. Darden addressed the end of the show on Twitter, writing, “It’s done. More to come. #EbroInTheMorning.” Rosenberg followed with a post reflecting on his experience: “I lived out a childhood dream and it was amazing. Very excited for what’s next #ebrointhemorning #reallate.” In an Instagram video, Rosenberg added, “I told you guys for a long time change is afoot. Change can be beautiful. There are some changes on the horizon. Stay tuned.”
Stylez also shared her reflections on the show’s conclusion, writing, “We had the best time… the most beautiful listeners and got to work with legends I love. I’m so proud of the work we did together… I lived so many of my dreams at Hot97 and got to work with my best friends! ….and best friends don’t let go… trust me, @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio and I have plans and more coming next year!”

In a follow-up video, Darden claimed his departure was due to his left-leaning views. Superadio Networks, the show’s syndication distributor, emphasized that the Ebro brand will continue. “We look forward to continuing to bring Ebro’s voice and talent to the masses across new platforms, which we’ll be sharing more about very soon,” the company said.
Originally running from 2012 to 2023, with earlier stints from 2004 to 2007, “Ebro in the Morning” now appears poised to transition to YouTube under a revised format. Meanwhile, Funk Flex’s new role marks the next chapter for Hot 97’s daytime lineup.
