*Tyler Perry’s newest release is dominating the streaming charts just days after its debut.
“Finding Joy,” which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 5, shot to the No. 1 spot in the United States within a week, according to Flixpatrol. Its rise places it ahead of a mix of high-profile films competing for holiday attention.
EUR reporter L. Marie writes, “Visually, the movie gives you all the holiday feels. Snowy mountains, cozy cabins, and that classic Tyler Perry mix of laughter and reflection. But what stands out most is the message. Joy isn’t only something you find within yourself; it’s something you can discover through others. Tyler Perry balances the heartfelt moments with humor, and the cast’s chemistry makes it believable.
“When we were off, the entire cast would hang out, and that’s how we bonded. We had this rapport where we could just joke around with each other. So it just felt very natural,” said Shannon Thornton when asked about the cast chemistry.
According to ScreenRant, the movie currently leads over titles including Jim Carrey’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” as well as “Wicked,” which is available for rental. Also in the top five are fellow seasonal release “Red One” and the drama “Hedda.” Despite the crowded lineup, Perry’s holiday dramedy has quickly emerged as the platform’s most-watched title.
When Prime Video’s television content is added to the rankings, “Finding Joy” still maintains its lead. It is positioned ahead of two major returning series: “Maxton Hall – The World Between Us” and “Hazbin Hotel,” the latter of which became the No. 1 Amazon show globally when its second season premiered. The film’s performance reinforces how consistently Perry’s projects attract an engaged audience.
