*Fat Joe is taking legal action against his former hype man, Terrance Dixon, accusing him of launching a smear campaign fueled by false and damaging allegations.
The rapper, whose real name is Joe Cartagena, claims Dixon fabricated “grotesque” and “scandalous” accusations, including pedophilia, statutory rape, and sexual assault, after a financial dispute. According to a lawsuit obtained by Complex, Fat Joe alleges he and Dixon worked together from 2006 until 2019, during which Dixon was properly compensated. The tension reportedly began when Dixon believed Joe had blocked him from securing funding for a record label. That dispute later escalated into claims that Dixon was owed money for work as a ghostwriter and uncredited vocalist on some of Joe’s songs.
Dixon retained attorney Tyrone Blackburn, also named in the suit, who is known for representing Lil Rodney in a high-profile case against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Blackburn had previously drawn judicial criticism for filing what a judge called “salacious” complaints. On March 23, Blackburn and Dixon issued a formal demand for compensation. By April 21, they had allegedly threatened to file a civil complaint accusing Fat Joe of sex trafficking, fraud, statutory rape, and forced labor.
Fat Joe says Blackburn sent multiple threatening emails, including one warning, “We will report him to Homeland Security,” and another declaring, “Playtime is over.” Meanwhile, Dixon posted on Instagram, accusing Joe of engaging in sexual activity with a minor and labeling him a pedophile.
Blackburn, responding to TMZ, dismissed the lawsuit, asserting, “Fat Joe has a lot of explaining to do.”

Fat Joe, in a separate statement, described the accusations as “completely false” and part of a calculated attempt to extort him.
“These allegations are completely false and part of a criminal conspiracy orchestrated between a disgruntled former hype man and his attorney,” the hip-hop star said.
“These two individuals have been scheming together to extort me with their elaborate and ludicrous demands changing by the day. The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation I’ve endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable,” Fat Joe added. “I’m taking legal action to expose their misconduct and I’m fully confident that the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam.”
