*Netflix subscribers can look forward to a month dedicated to one of comedy’s most enduring stars. Eddie Murphy fans will soon see two of his most popular movies return to streaming, along with a brand-new documentary that explores his decades-long impact on film and entertainment.
According to Coming Soon, beginning November 1, audiences can stream “Dr. Dolittle” and its sequel, “Dr. Dolittle 2.” Released in 1998, the first film features Murphy as a surgeon who unexpectedly discovers he can talk to animals. The movie became an instant hit, earning $251.4 million worldwide and inspiring a theatrical sequel in 2001.
The celebration continues with “Being Eddie,” a Netflix original documentary directed by two-time Oscar winner Angus Wall, known for “The Social Network” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Premiering November 12, the feature marks the first time Murphy provides an unfiltered look into his life and career, charting nearly fifty years in entertainment.
Wall praised Murphy’s unmatched legacy, stating, “There is no one else like him. Nobody. He’s been famous longer than just about anyone alive, and he’s never lost who he is. He has survived it all with grace. How did he do that? What guides him? We chase all of these questions with him.”

“Being Eddie” showcases Murphy’s diverse talents across comedy, action, drama, and animation, featuring reflections from Arsenio Hall, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Pete Davidson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Tracy Morgan. Together, they revisit his “Saturday Night Live” years, the stand-up landmark “Raw,” hit films such as “Beverly Hills Cop,” “Coming to America,” and “Trading Places,” and his later successes including “The Nutty Professor,” the “Shrek” franchise, and his Oscar-nominated performance in “Dreamgirls.”
