*Disney has released the first trailer and poster for “Hexed,” a new animated fantasy centered on a teenager who discovers she has a powerful connection to a hidden magical world.
The film marks Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 65th animated feature and introduces audiences to Billie, a young girl whose life changes dramatically after she accidentally unlocks mysterious magical abilities.
Voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, Billie begins the story living an ordinary suburban life alongside her mother, Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones. But when her newfound powers emerge, she is transported to Hexe, a secret realm filled with witches, magic and long-buried secrets.
The trailer offers a first look at Billie’s journey through the fantastical world, where she encounters two unusual guides: Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather pen voiced by Tracey Ullman, and Elias Quire, a magical journal voiced by Stephen Fry.

According to director Fawn Veerasunthorn, Billie’s story centers on self-discovery and belonging.
“A wonderfully strange phenomenon is happening all around Billie, something she can’t explain,” Veerasunthorn said. “She’s someone who has felt miscast in her own life, and it takes leaving her normal world behind and entering a hidden world of wild, unhinged magic to begin to understand herself.”
As Billie explores Hexe, she uncovers family secrets that could have far-reaching consequences for the magical community. The story also examines her evolving relationship with her mother while revealing connections to a past neither of them fully understands.
Director Jason Hand said the magical realm plays a key role in helping Billie discover her identity.
“Hexe is a place where Billie begins to feel seen for the first time in her life,” Hand said. “She embarks on a journey of self-discovery that reveals a powerful connection to magic, and in the process uncovers long-held secrets about her family.”
In addition to Steinfeld and Jones, the voice cast includes seven-time Emmy winner Tracey Ullman and acclaimed actor Stephen Fry.
