*The Critics Choice Association (CCA) unveiled the winners of the 5th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards on August 7, celebrating standout achievements in superhero, science fiction/fantasy, horror, and action genres across film and television. The awards, recognizing fan-favorite entertainment, highlighted both series and movies that captivated audiences this year. Acceptance speeches are available for viewing online.
HBO’s “The Penguin” emerged as the television frontrunner, sweeping all four of its nominated categories. The series won Best Superhero Series, Limited Series, or Made-For-TV Movie, with Colin Farrell securing Best Actor and Best Villain in a Superhero Series, and Cristin Milioti earning Best Actress in the same category. The show’s dominance underscored its critical and fan acclaim.
In the film categories, four movies tied for the lead with two wins each. “Deadpool & Wolverine” took home Best Superhero Movie, with Hugh Jackman honored as Best Actor in a Superhero Movie. “Dune: Part Two” claimed Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie, and Timothée Chalamet was named Best Actor in the genre.
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” secured Best Action Movie, with Tom Cruise recognized as Best Actor in an Action Movie for his high-octane performance. Meanwhile, “Sinners” won Best Horror Movie, and Michael B. Jordan was awarded Best Actor in a Horror Movie for his chilling role.
The CCA, representing nearly 600 media critics and entertainment journalists across the U.S. and Canada, continues to champion diverse storytelling in popular genres. See the full winners list below.
