*Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton found himself at the center of controversy following a candid appearance on the “It’s Giving” podcast, where he made eyebrow-raising remarks about women with multiple children.
According to the New York Post, when host Sarah Fontenot asked whether having children with multiple partners affects a woman’s worth, Newton responded without hesitation. “I just think that the reality to that answer is women’s value get lower the more children that they have,” he said.
It’s worth noting that Newton is the father of nine children across relationships with three women. Speaking to Fontenot, he recalled a conversation he had with one of his kids’ mothers regarding her future dating life. Newton acknowledged that finding a partner willing to embrace a woman’s children is key, stating, “the guy that you’re dating or will date ain’t willing to love on these five children that you have, that ain’t the guy for you. Because when I came into your life, I was willing to accept you and whatever you had. There are guys that’s out there that’s just going to say, ‘Them ain’t my kids, I want you.’
Newton previously shared his desire to have more children with multiple women while choosing to avoid marriage. In a 2024 interview with celebrity psychologist Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, he explained his decision to remain single, The Jasmine Brand reported. When asked how many more kids he wants, Newton said, “I don’t know, wherever much that God gives me.”
He added, “But jokingly, and not jokingly, they really give me my purpose and there’s so many different things that I look at to say, they’re my refuge. They’re my peace. They’re my encouragement.”
Newton’s relationship with his eldest child has been strained due to his past infidelity, which he admits has caused tension.
“My dark side in my life was like I was in a long-term relationship and I had a child outside my relationship,” Newton shared on the third season of “Special Forces,” per PEOPLE. “We had just moved into a house and everything was kind of perfect from the outside in, you know?”
“And my relationship with my oldest daughter has suffered. All she kept asking was, ‘Yo, why?’ ” he recalled.
“I’m still dealing with that resentment. So if I can heal that, then that’s the start,” Cam stated in a confessional, “My daughter. We have our disconnects, but I just want my children to know that their dad cares, like I care.”
