*Cam Newton is opening up once again about the desire to expand his family.
The retired NFL star, 35, has six biological children and two stepchildren and told PEOPLE that he would like to have more kids.
“Did I tell you I want more?” Newton said when asked about his children.
Cam has four with ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor and two with photographer LaReina Shaw. He also helps raise their older children from previous relationships. Most recently, he welcomed a baby girl in 2024 with his girlfriend, Jasmin Brown. When asked how many more kids he wants, Newton said, “I don’t know, wherever much that God gives me.”
He added, “But jokingly, and not jokingly, they really give me my purpose and there’s so many different things that I look at to say, they’re my refuge. They’re my peace. They’re my encouragement.”

Newton has previously shared his desire to have more children with multiple women while choosing to avoid marriage. In a 2024 interview with celebrity psychologist Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, he explained his decision to remain single. During the conversation, he acknowledged having eight children with three different women and expressed his interest in expanding his family further.
“A lot of people see my situation and think that I’m not ‘high-functioning’…I’m not married…I have beautiful children…my desire to get married is lower than my fear of divorce,” the former Carolina Panthers quarterback explained, The Jasmine Brand reported.

Newton’s relationship with his eldest child has been strained due to his past infidelity, which he admits has caused tension.
“My dark side in my life was like I was in a long-term relationship and I had a child outside my relationship,” Newton shared on the third season of “Special Forces,” per PEOPLE. “We had just moved into a house and everything was kind of perfect from the outside in, you know?”
“And my relationship with my oldest daughter has suffered. All she kept asking was, ‘Yo, why?’ ” he recalled.
“I’m still dealing with that resentment. So if I can heal that, then that’s the start,” Cam stated in a confessional, “My daughter. We have our disconnects, but I just want my children to know that their dad cares, like I care.”
