She celebrated his character, noting, “My grandfather was truly a man of great intellect — an author, educator and keeper of historical facts. Papa poured into both family and community. I miss him tremendously.”
She concluded the post by addressing her late grandmother, saying, “I’m a little lost for words right now, but I love you endlessly Papa. Give Nana a kiss for me ❤️.”
Williams’ mother, Shirley Williams, passed away in 2020. At the time, the former talk show described her death as peaceful. “She didn’t suffer, not one bit,” Wendy shared.
She called her mother “the best mother, the best girlfriend, that a girl could ever have,” and expressed gratitude for having her in her life for 56 years.
When Shirley appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” in 2010, she reflected on the day her daughter was born, calling Wendy “a ray of sunshine.”
“In 1964, my family was full of stress and in a lot of darkness because my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer,” Shirley said in the episode, per PEOPLE. “But then, a ray of sunshine came into our lives. Wendy was born in July. So what a wonderful blessing it was to us, that one was ready to be taken away in October, and one brought a ray of sunshine and hope and wonderful, bubbly personality into our lives.”
