*Netflix has confirmed that “Wednesday,” the darkly comedic series centered on the Addams Family’s enigmatic daughter, will return for a third season.
The announcement arrived ahead of the show’s highly anticipated Season 2 premiere, solidifying its status as a global sensation since its 2022 debut. Starring Jenna Ortega as the deadpan Wednesday Addams, the series continues to captivate audiences with its gothic charm and macabre wit.
Season 2 of “Wednesday” is already underway, with its first part released on August 6, 2025, and the second part set for September 3, 2025. Each part includes four episodes, forming an eight-episode season. While Season 3 has no confirmed premiere date or filming start, anticipation is high following the show’s cultural impact.
“The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English language TV show, and sparking cultural trends,” said Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, per TV Insider. “We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire Wednesday cast and crew for everything they’ve accomplished.”
Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement for the renewal, stating, “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe — one deadpan quip at a time. We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3. This time, she’ll unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets — and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.’”
Season 2 delves into darker, more intricate narratives while preserving the show’s signature humor. “We think Season 2 is funnier as well!” Gough says.
It expands the Addams Family and Nevermore Academy’s lore, featuring returning characters like Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) in larger roles, alongside new mysterious figures. Looking ahead, Season 3 aims to amplify these elements.
“Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” says Gough. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.” Millar adds, “We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!”
Plot details for Season 3 remain tightly guarded. When pressed for hints, Millar teased, “Sure, but then I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave.”
