*Walmart is expanding its in-store dining offerings by teaming up with Wienerschnitzel, a national hot dog franchise, to open new restaurant locations inside six of its retail stores.
The partnership marks the latest move in Walmart’s broader strategy to enhance customer experience through quick-service meal options. As Restaurant Dive reports, the collaboration will debut with six stores across the Western U.S., with locations set for Puyallup, Washington; Alamogordo, New Mexico; Tempe, Arizona; Reno, Nevada; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Bakersfield, California. Each of these restaurants will be operated by local franchisees, with openings planned by the fall.
Wienerschnitzel will offer its complete menu within these Walmart locations. The chain noted that entering Walmart stores supports its push to expand the brand’s reach beyond standalone locations.
“Wienerschnitzel has spent decades building a strong reputation, especially on the West Coast, and this expansion into Walmart stores signifies a new era of growth for the brand,” said Turner Shak Turner, Wienerschnitzel’s newest Director of Franchise Expansion.
“It’s clear Wienerschnitzel’s unique concept fills a specific void for multi-brand franchisees looking to grow their portfolios, which is one of the elements that attracted me to the brand initially. I’m thrilled to join this amazing team and play a part in spearheading initiatives and new partnerships, which will no doubt catapult the brand to new markets.”

Walmart’s deal with Wienerschnitzel builds on its ongoing effort to partner with quick-service and fast-casual dining brands, providing made-to-order food to shoppers directly inside its stores.
“I’ve been with Wienerschnitzel for over a decade now, and I’ve seen firsthand the immense growth and evolution it has undergone,” said Ted Milburn, Director of Franchise Development.
“These non-traditional formats allow us to modernize our footprint, bring our iconic flavors to new audiences, and reinforce the brand’s relevance in today’s evolving retail and dining landscape,” Milburn continued. “Growing inside these Walmart locations significantly expands our reach and opens the door for franchisees to tap into high-traffic locations with built-in demand.”
Currently, Wienerschnitzel operates 340 franchised restaurants across 13 states.
