*A modified 1996 Hummer H1 that belonged to Tupac Shakur is heading back to auction, reigniting interest in what many consider the rapper’s final major purchase before his tragic death. Bonhams Cars will present the vehicle at its Scottsdale sale on January 23, according to Auto Blog.
Shakur acquired the Hummer brand new in August 1996, one month before his fatal shooting in Las Vegas that September. Estate documentation identifies this truck as his last vehicle acquisition, a distinction that has significantly increased its cultural and historical value.
The diesel-powered H1 started as a four-door hardtop pickup but underwent extensive customization reflecting Shakur’s distinctive style. Modifications include oversized off-road tires, custom wheels, diamond-plate bumpers, a front brush guard equipped with auxiliary lighting, a 12,000-pound winch, and a spotlight mounted on the roof. The interior received upgrades as well, featuring cream leather upholstery, a Clarion audio system with CD changer, a Sony navigation unit, and a PA system that includes sirens and a loudspeaker.

The truck has been exceptionally well-maintained since the 1990s, showing just over 10,000 miles on the odometer. It comes with factory documentation and a documented ownership chain.
This Hummer previously changed hands at auction in 2016 for a six-figure price. Bonhams is now projecting bids in the mid- to high-six-figure range for the upcoming sale.
