*Flushing, New York – President Donald Trump will make an appearance at this year’s US Open. Who knew tennis was even on his radar?
Whether Trump genuinely follows the sport or not, he’s poised to complicate things for fans and staff to have his moment.

Security measures are being beefed up to accommodate the leader of the free world at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on this Finals Sunday.
He’ll be in the house – inside Arthur Ashe Stadium – to watch either Italy’s Jannik Sinner or Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz hoist the trophy and walk away with $5 million in prize money.
It’s one of those “lightning strike” moments where world no. 1, Sinner, will play world no. 2, Alcaraz. So, being one to never miss an opportunity to stoke the fire of his popularity, he will surely seek to benefit from the optics of his attendance.
But how will New Yorkers view his presence (and for that matter, how would Arthur Ashe himself feel about the way our President moves?)?

New York is a blue and extremely diverse state, and given all that’s going on in the country at present – immigration crackdown, economy, etc., will the POTUS be cheered or jeered … applauded or booed? He has deep roots in the city (real estate and beyond) and his share of cronies, but will that be enough to garner the controversial President a warm reception? New Yorkers are in no way shy … and they’ll let us know soon enough.
For fans planning to attend, be prepared to arrive early and to be searched TSA-style, and for those working at the site in some capacity, be prepared to bring only what you need to work, and any equipment needs to be on site before closing the evening prior. Security will be extremely tight.
Regardless how you feel about Donald Trump, the world is his oyster right now, and the US Open Tennis Championships is his latest pearl of choice. And once it’s all said and done, his recollection will likely be: “more people bought tickets because I was there … it was the greatest reception any President has ever received at any sporting event!” We kid but … well, no we don’t.
On the other hand, maybe he’ll be inspired by the spirit of Arthur Ashe while he’s there …
Nevertheless, check your local listings for coverage.
