*There’s no question that Trina is her own woman, as one of the most successful women to pick up a mic and an author to boot. So it may surprise folk that she hasn’t signed a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot with the love of her life Benjamin Kearse Jr. this past May.
Yet, to hear Trina tell it, there’s very much a reason why the paperwork is a nonissue with her and her beloved.
“My husband brings all of his money to me. So I’m in charge. He can’t spend a dime without my consent,” Trina confessed during a recent episode of the “All Things Keyshia Ka’oir” podcast. “He can’t spend a dime for nothing unless it goes through me. That phone go to ringing up – I see everything.”
Needless to say, the “Pull Over” Rhymesayer’s comments struck a nerve.
According to Madame Noire, mixed feedback was present from those who heard Trina loud and clear, with some feeling she degraded Kearse.
“She should’ve kept that house she just made that man look like a simp,” one person voiced under the Shade Room’s post.
“If a man worded that sentence in that same structure: “She can’t spend a dime without my consent.” We as women would be outraged, but here go the high fives. I found it pretty emasculating. Sorry,” another user expressed.
Despite the backlash, some supported Trina’s view and referred to how things were handled back in the day when it came to how money was handled.
“So back in the day… The men used to do this..bring home the paycheck and the wife would pay the bills.. she’d give him money for things he wanted..I thought y’all wanted the traditional relationships.”

A second person in favor of Trina’s statement said, “This normally how it go! Women typically balance and structure the household finances,” a second person chimed in.
From the looks of it, Kearse has no problem with his wife or what she said. Especially since he was sitting in the same room Trina and Keyshia Ka’oir were in when they were chatting during the podcast.
Shifting gears, Ka’oir, who is married to rapper Gucci Mane, inquired about where Trina met her husband.
Recalling the life-changing development, the Miami rap legend revealed her and Kearse to me at an event she attended with her cousin Joy. Once Trina looked over, the spark was lit when she said, “Who is that?”
Not knowing who Kearse was at the time, Joy said, “I don’t know.” From there, Ka’oir said she responded, “Me neither, but we need to find out.”

Love was in the air with Trina and Kearse’s relationship manifesting amid things happening around them.
“He stood there the whole night, just like – it was like we were the only two people in the place. I couldn’t see nothing else, he didn’t see nothing else and he walked over. Said ‘Hi,’ I said ‘Hi,’” the “Here We Go” hitmaker explained.
Although they are married, Trina confirmed a ceremony hasn’t been held yet.
“We just did a private marriage,” she said.”The wedding is next year. It’s a lot with a wedding you know that.”
Proper time allotted to have a meaningful and worthwhile ceremony is something Ka’oir can relate to, as she advised Trina to not rush planning her special day.
