*Monday night’s New York Knicks/Miami Heat game at Madison Square Garden had an unusual timeout—one that had nothing to do with basketball. Comedian Tracy Morgan, seated courtside for the matchup suddenly fell ill, bringing the action to a halt for about 10 minutes.
A viral video shows Morgan, a longtime Knicks fan, was later taken out of the arena in a wheelchair. By Tuesday morning, he reassured fans via Instagram that he was recovering, attributing the incident to food poisoning.
“Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning,” he captioned a photo of himself in a hospital bed. “Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”
True to his comedic nature, Morgan added: “More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs ? #goknicks.”
The game resumed without further issues, with the Knicks beating the Heat 116-95.

Morgan was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1996 but admitted in a 2009 interview with Time that he didn’t immediately grasp the seriousness of the condition until a frightening wake-up call changed his outlook.
“One day I got really sick,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “The doctor was like, ‘Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.’ That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn’t get over 120.”
In 2010, Morgan underwent a kidney transplant, Essence reported. While Morgan hasn’t publicly disclosed the reason for his transplant, diabetes is known to impact kidney health.
