*Tina Knowles joined Sherri Shepherd on Monday’s episode of “Sherri” to talk about family, fame, and the next generation of Knowles-Carters. When asked how her granddaughters and grandson—Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Jules—stay grounded despite their famous lineage, Knowles credited their upbringing. “Their mothers set them straight and don’t let them get away with that entitlement,” she said.
Knowles and Shepherd’s conversation turned to the realities of raising children in the spotlight. Knowles described the effort it takes to balance public life with personal growth and shared how her grandchildren are learning to stay humble. The designer and matriarch emphasized how the family focuses on discipline and self-awareness even amid extraordinary circumstances. Watch the clip above.

Earlier this year, Rumi, 8, made headlines after joining her mother, Beyoncé, on stage during the “Cowboy Carter Tour.” Making her debut on opening night, Rumi confidently walked the stage with a playful strut reminiscent of her big sister, 13-year-old Blue Ivy, who had wowed audiences during the “Renaissance Tour.” Ms. Tina previously revealed that Rumi’s moment in the spotlight had been a long time coming.
“She learned choreography and was ready,” she wrote a heartfelt Instagram post. “She really did go straight out there. One day she’s gonna cut loose and walk down the runway one day you watch!! Rumi❤️❤️ is also a great songwriter already! She will be a force to be reckoned with just wait!❤️❤️”
In a 2024 interview with GQ, Beyoncé noted that her kids “come with me everywhere I go,” adding, “They come to my office after school, and they are in the studio with me. They are in dance rehearsals. It’s natural that they would learn my choreography.”
She also praised Blue Ivy’s dedication and artistic instincts. “Blue is an artist. She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She has been creating characters since she was three,” Beyonce said. “She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage. Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it.”
